There is one thing that you cannot avoid if you want to get on Xbox Live and that is buying you a time card which can cost you $7.99 for a month or you can buy a 3 month or a year card. You can also set up a credit card that will automatically pay each time your Live runs out. This is actually not much to pay at all for what you get with Xbox Live. You can play brand new demos of games that have not released yet. You can also rent movies through Xbox or even join Netflix and watch live stream movies on your Xbox.
